Any lingering questions regarding the health of the left knee off Adil Chihi will have to stand aside for at least a little.
It was Chihi’s left leg that volleyed a long crossing pass from Chong Tese into the goal of visiting SC Heerenveen to give the Billy Goats the lead in the 27th minute Saturday on their way to a 2:0 win in their final test match before next Sunday’s season opener at Eintracht Braunschweig.
Chihi actually accounted for both goals for the EffZeh. In the 83rd minute, a shot by Miso Brecko deflected off the Dutch side’s keeper and found itself directly in Chihi’s path, upon which time he drilled it securely into the net.
If you don’t believe me, you can see the highlights for yourself right here; you’ll see it’s pretty much just like I said.
Chihi tore his ACL early last season after appearing in all 11 Bundesliga matches and scoring two goals for FC Köln before the injury. A healthy Chihi could certainly bolster an offense in want of goal-scoring threats, especially considering the lack of proven offensive production in the team.
