International break certainly means a break from competitive club football, but not a full break from club football.
The 1. FC Köln, minus national team member Jonas Hector (football god) and a few others, made a short trip west to the Josef Balduin Arena to test against Bezirksliga side Bedburger Ballspielverein (BBV) Tuesday and posted a result one might expect of a practice match between professionals and amateurs, the effzeh winning 11:0.
Bård Finne delivered a hat trick for the effzeh to lead all scorers. Philipp Hosiner snagged a pair, while Leonardo Bittencourt, Kevin Vogt, Milos Jojic, Frederik Sörensen, Dominique Heintz, and Lucas Cueto each got their name on the score sheet once.
Köln led by eight at halftime.
The next test match awaits the team on Thursday, again a short trip west from Köln, as the club will face a team assembled for the game in Bergheim.
